How to play, and how to play well
The controls take one throw to learn. Three stars on every level takes a little more. Here is what the game does not tell you.
The controls
Press the object, pull back the opposite way, release. The length of the pull sets the power and its direction sets the angle. The dots in front of the object show the first part of the flight; after that, gravity and wind take over.
Reading the wind
When a level has wind, an arrow shows its direction and strength, and specks drift across the screen at the same speed. Light objects feel it most: paper balls and water balloons drift a long way, while a rubber ball or an ice ball cuts through it. Aim upwind by about as much as you saw the specks move in a second.
Every object flies differently
Each object has its own weight, bounce and grip. A rubber ball and an ice ball bounce high, which makes them good for bank shots off a wall or a bouncer. Slime, wax and water balloons hardly bounce at all, so they have to land in the target directly. Cans and bottles sit in between.
- High bounce: rubber ball, ice ball. Use the walls.
- Almost no bounce: slime ball, water balloon, wax ball, snowball. Drop them straight in.
- Light and slow: paper ball. Throw high and allow for the wind.
Obstacles
Shelves and beams are solid: go over them or bank off them. A bouncer launches whatever lands on it back into the air, which is sometimes the only way in. A fan blows everything inside its column upwards, so a throw through it rises and floats before it drops.
Stars, combos and the daily level
A level cleared with the first throw earns three stars, within three throws two, and after that one. Stars never go down, so a replay can only improve a level.
Clearing levels one after another builds a combo that multiplies the points, up to double, with a bonus for a first-throw clear. There is also one daily level for everyone, and clearing it on consecutive days keeps a streak going.
The endless run
Once you know the scenes, the endless run strings levels together from easy to brutal. You have 3 lives, a miss costs one, and your best run is kept on the device for you to beat.
Questions
Why did my throw bounce out of the target?
A throw that hits the rim glances off towards the side its centre was on. Aim for the middle of the opening and use a higher arc.
How do I get three stars?
Clear the level with your first throw. Missing once or twice still earns two stars.
Are there secrets?
Yes. There are hidden easter eggs for unusual throws, and the records screen shows the ones you have found.
